Here are some tips to fight acne (part 1):
- Sleep 6-8 a day at night. According to a study in Sleep, the risk of psychological stress increases by 14% for every hour of sleep you lose a night. Stress is not only bad for your body; it is also bad for your skin. Relieve yourself by having a good night sleep. However, do not overdo it, as it is bad for health as well.
- Go easy on sugar. The more sugar you eat, the more insulin your body excrete. Moreover, insulin causes inflammation on the cellular level, therefore, causes pimples.
- Move your body. Exercising causes you to sweat; therefore, it helps your body flush out the toxins. It also increases circulation and relieve stress. However, remember to shower immediately afterwards otherwise the sweat will irritate your skin.
- Drink eight glasses of water a day. As it detoxifies your body.
- It is important to wear SPF every time you are in the sun. Sun emits harmful UV rays which can causes skin damage leading to formation of acne. Choose sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Read the ingredients list on the back of your sunscreen, and if you are acne-prone, look for the lighter, non-occlusive chemical ingredients like avobenzone, oxybenzone, methoxycinnamate, or octocylene. Sunscreens containing zinc oxide or titanium oxide tend to be thicker and sometimes more likely to block pores and aggravate acne-prone skin. If you have acne, look for “noncomedogenic” on the label, which means it should not clog your skin’s pores.
